General Information

Nueva Vista High School was started in 1967 with a Principal, 3 teachers and about 50 students. In the 1970’s, the enrollment reached almost 200 with 12 teachers but since 1980 enrollment has stayed closer to 120 students yearly. It was about this time Independent Study (IS) was offered to Nueva Vista High School students, where students can pick up assignments and complete at home. In 1990 our first counselor was hired. In 1997 we changed our name to Paseo de Oro and moved to the Bassett High School campus. In 1999 our original name was reinstated. In 2007 we moved back to our original site on 904 N. Willow Ave.

 

 

Nueva Vista’s mission is to engage, educate, and empower its students with an alternative educational model that prepares them for postsecondary education and 21st century success.

 

 

Nueva Vista is a supportive educational environment that tailors instruction and support to address students’ academic, social-emotional, and vocational needs. Nueva Vista uses a project based learning model to engage students in relevant, challenging learning experiences. Nueva Vista employs a positive behavior and intervention system to teach and reinforce the skills that all students need for success in life. Nueva Vista partners with parents, community members, support agencies, and other institutions to provide the highest level of educational service possible.
